6 Week Course with Jared Franks and Laura Shaw

Jared Franks and Laura Shaw would like to warmly invite you to join us for this transformative training course on Mindfulness and Self-Inquiry.

This course is suitable for:

a) individuals who would like some guidance and support from experienced teachers to engage with mindfulness and self inquiry effectively for all areas of their personal lives

b) those who work with clients and would like to use mindfulness and self inquiry more skillfully in therapeutic settings

 

In this 6-week course you will learn:

• To be fully present with your body, thoughts, emotions, relationships and circumstances regardless of what may be arising

• To use whatever is arising to connect to your Self deeper than ever before

• To respond to life deliberately rather than reacting from unconscious tendencies

• To clearly recognize your unconscious patterns which cause suffering, and be able to stop

• Trauma-sensitive tools that support you (or your clients) to regulate your nervous system and expand your window of tolerance

• To discover what your life is about and how to focus your attention on what you want

Through guided inquiries, stories, playful discussions, experiential teachings and opportunities for open Q&A, Jared and Laura will gently guide participants’ attention inwards, and support deep self-inquiry, opening the possibility of true realization of who you are beyond the personal identity.

• 1 hour interactive live-stream with Laura and Jared each week

• An extra 20 mins of live Q&A each session

• Recorded session link emailed to you weekly in case you are unable to attend live

• Worksheets with summaries from each session with exercises and inquiries

“What is Mindfulness?”

On any given day, a variety of thoughts, emotions, sensations and circumstances can arise and come to the forefront of our experience.  Rather than staying open and meeting all of this with deep awareness, most of us develop complex strategies in an attempt to control and manage aspects of our experience that we find uncomfortable or that we want more of.  We end up being more connected to our strategies than we are to the freshness of life in each moment.

As we learn to be mindful in each moment, we become reconnected with the precious aliveness that is always here.

Mindfulness is about deliberately bringing our attention to whatever is arising in each moment with an attitude of curiosity and non-judgment.  So in this moment, are you willing to be honest about what is happening (in your thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, relationships, circumstances) with a kind curiosity?  For a moment, can you fully be with what is here without any movement to change (fix, judge, resist, indulge) it?

“What is Self-Inquiry?”

Every day and throughout our lives, we focus our attention on who we think we are, whether we are doing well, or failing, whether people like us, or don’t like us, whether we are a good person, or a bad person, or whatever it is you are conditioned to want in terms of your identity. In other words, our identity plays a very large role in our day-to-day experience of life. But what if these thoughts and emotions are relatively true perhaps in a moment, but ultimately not true? Who are you if your thoughts about yourself are not who you really are? This is Self-Inquiry, to investigate who you think you are, and discover freshly a deeper truth of who you really are, fresh and alive in this moment, beyond description, beyond thought. Consciousness aware of itself.
